First of all let me say I am all for the revitalization of downtown Alexandria. 100%
But…there is one glaring problem remaining that is not being addressed in any way what so ever!!
Bringing people to Central Louisiana to visit and see what we have to offer.
It seems we are stuck in the “If you build it they will come fallacy.”
Folk’s, It don’t happen that way!
No way, no how!
As I have said many, many times before, you must have a hook.
You have to have a draw.
Do not get me wrong..we have a few attractions.. but most, if not all are not promoted correctly or promoted at all.
From what I can determine and what I have seen in the past.
The personal in the tourist promotion and bring em here to Central Louisiana, are clueless to say the least!
They do not know in any way shape or form the gold mine they have to sell to people who have never been here.
A town or city can not base it’s tourism on conventions. (It don’t work that way!)
But that seems to be the mind set.. Baseball,golf and basketball tourney’s are pitiful draws.
We need to change our direction and capitalize on the rich history we have to showcase.
Not temporary one time events but concrete attractions, that are here and will always be.
We have these attractions, right under our nose’s.
We are blind to them..
And we are loosing because of it…..
I can think of many.
I will list a few in another post.
But right now, see if you can come up with some in your thoughts.
The horse is galloping down the road and the Cart is just sitting empty behind it.
