Planning a Alexandria highway “loop”

All I can say is look at the advantage differences of what happened when the powers that be ran I49 through town instead of around. Think long and hard and do not waste  money doing fifteen different studys. (Or blow some more of our citys future for that matter…)

One Response to Planning a Alexandria highway “loop”

  1. IF our past leadership had been paying attention, we would have had a loop a long, long time ago. There were plans noted in the 60s to use Sugarhouse, connect through Camp Claiborne, come through and around up past Twin Bridges and join up with Vandenburg to what is now I-49. There were also discussions of a new bridge coming from 107 across the river to connect to Alexandria on hwy 1 near Sugarhouse.

Yes, I-49 runs through downtown and what does it do, it basically bypasses business in Alexandria and does in essence serve as a “loop”. It keeps traffic off our main streets.
