Vintage Photograph exhibit at LSUA Art Gallery. (in student union building)

I attended the Vintage Photograph Exhibit put together by the Louisiana History Museum and the LSUA Art Department last week.

The exhibit is in the Student Union Building on the right side facing the building, with a parking lot across the street. Easy to get to.

Museum Director Dale Genius put the display together from Louisiana History Museum archive photo’s, with the help of Prof. Roy deVille of the LSUA Art Department.

There are over 40 vintage photographs on display. It is free to the public and will run through about the middle of December.

Vintage Photographs of Alexandria.

It is well worth the time to drive out to LSUA and  view this exhibit of photographs.

For those of you who grew up in the 1940–70′s period, it will bring back a lot of memories.

For those of you who are younger, you will see what we once had here in Alexandria that is now gone.

Replaced by vacant lots and parking areas.

Because I believe in Historic Preservation, I give it 5 stars!

Observation on 2000 page health care proposed bill.

I was thinking about this yesterday. The proposed health care bill is almost 2000 pages long.

Our Constitution was written and signed on one page.

Something is really, really wrong with the world we live in today.

Yet, no one seems to give a damn.

Are we going to wake up, or just roll over and let this continue to happen?

The latter, it seems.

Am I the only one that feels like I just bought a ticket for a cruise on the Titanic?

Alexandria’s City Council Members. (Bozo the clown’s brothers)

clown37

Overall I think our Mayor runs a fairly tight ship. He seems to hold up his side of the table. I am sure he has his moments of inattention.

Actually, I sometimes think he tries too hard to please.

There are two members of the council that are able to cope.

Frankly the balance of our city council are incompetent at best.

Let’s take up a collection and send all of our council members to some type of school where they will be taught to read and perhaps be  given an injection of common sense.

It’s one thing to be self-serving, but most of these clowns have developed that trait to a fine art.

Wow, I have held my observations for quite some time, but, for God’s sake some of you intelligent citizens,

blessed with a little common sense… please speak up!!

All of you City Council members, please quit bitching and bragging and help us out..

Please focus on  the business that need’s to be done for the city it’s self and not on your pet self-serving  wasteful vote getting projects!

Work with the Mayor or maybe run away and join the circus…

They need more clowns!!

International Paper Co. Pineville to close. Dec. 15

Over 200 people added to the unemployment line on Dec. 15.  See Town Talk story.

http://www.thetowntalk.com/article/20091022/NEWS01/91022012/

What is there to say? I hope some of the employees saw it coming.

It will be a economic shock to Pineville and Central La.

The side effects will hurt a lot of small business’s that supply the plant.

Its a trickle down effect.

Sad.

A random thought on local Alexandria police.

Now I am not complaining, just making an observation.

It concerns me though,  because of the rise in crime we have seen in the past month or so.

Why do I see police cars parked in out of the way spots such as the back of the parking lot across from the Methodist Church on Jackson Street.

Two cars pulled up under the deserted Salley’s building front entrance cover.

It’s almost like they are trying to hide.

It seems to me they should be devoting their time to being visable rather than invisable.

The above two places are just an example. I have seen them at other ’s.

Should they not be parked in the high crime areas where their presence is needed to  make people more aware ???

I would think  that high visibility is a part of crime prevention…..

It’s not a big deal, just an observation.

President Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

I woke up this morning. Fired up my  computer.

I know today is not April 1st.

I read the story.

Shook my head.

Pinched myself

Every person I have talked to today has had the same reaction.

Two words ended by a question mark.

He ,what???

I do  hope he will accomplish something. Time will tell.

In my opinion to give him this prestigious prize was only to poke fun at the U.S. for his inaction and recklessness.

In many areas I think he is trying very hard.

He has some potential, somewhere…

Trouble in the Central Louisiana Blogisphere.

First of all, I am not above or better than anyone else. I have been known to lose my temper as any other normal human tend’s to do.

I started this blog over a year ago for a number of reasons. The main one is I enjoy writing and hopefully teaching.

I choose to remain name less  , not because I have anything to hide., just because I want it this way.

A good detective can put together the content of my blog along with comment’s I have made and quite easily come up with my true identity.

If someone choses to make my name public, so be it. Several of the bloggers know me and respect my wishes to not be identified.

Both Greg and Ed of the two disagreeing blogs have helped my cause in one way or the other. For their actions on Alex Cenla’s behalf ..I respect them and thank them.

What We Saw and Central La Politics  are at odds at the moment with one filing a suit against the other. You can refer to their respective Blogs for details.

Your actions do create readership for both of you, but are not in the best interest of  journalism and do not do justice to the positive image we should be trying to create for our  Central Louisiana.

Being that  we all are gentlemen and understand that our beliefs and education sometime can lead to suspicion and misunderstanding,

each of you in your own way contribute to our community. Let us continue to  do so constructively.

You may scoff , but I think we can all offer more than disdain and rancor.

Let me assure you I am completely neutral in this, but lets be objective.

The whole thing is  rather sophomoric.

But then I have been called a lot of things for expressing my opinion before…and I am sure I will continue to be compared to many assorted things in the future. I realise that most of the labels are speculative at best.

:)
