Several month’s ago members of a single family dwelling neighborhood were shocked to see a home on the block they lived in become a motel.
Six to eight men were staying in the home sleeping on air mattresses with little or no furniture in the home.
The neighbors on the block did manage to get the grass cut at regular periods of time, but that was as far as it went.
A petition was passed around protesting this violation. Better than 75% of the home owners signed it.
A number of them wrote statement’s about their concern , also.
A member of the commission was called and the information was emailed to his office.
About two week’s later a follow up email was sent asking if any thing had been done.
Its been over a month and no response what-so-ever from the City code enforcement office.
Here is the gripe. We do not know anything about these men other than they are construction trade laborers.
This neighborhood is not a mobile home park or a motel….
Are some of them ex-convicts?
Are they sexual predators?
Are they prone to violence?
Do they use drugs?
Why are they allowed to rent a home in a single family dwelling area?
This home is a block and a half away from a school.
Children pass by there every day.
It is not a race thing, because we are a balanced neighborhood.
It is degrading the neighborhood, by allowing a motel environment to exist.
Are the owner’s of the home and the large real estate company exempt from following the letter of the law?
I am sure it is very lucrative for the Realtor and home owner, renting probably to a large construction Company to perhaps get around paying their
employee’s a daily rent allowance.
Is the Code enforcement of Alexandria inept?
Perhaps they think we as a group are not important enough to give consideration to? (after all, we are not realtor’s or business establishments.)
Is the Code enforcement, Undermanned?
Do not care?
Corrupt?
Lazy?
I am astounded at the “devil may care” attitude of the people that work for us… the property owners and tax payers of Alexandria..
This is how good neighborhoods run down.
SHAME!
But then, who give’s a damn? (They will get over it, nuge, nuge, wink, wink.)
