When we took pride in our craftsmanship & and made it in the U.S.A.

January 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Henry made the assembly line turn out the cars, took pride in them and everything  used was from the good ole USA.

Today, well that’s an other story.

Watch this video of when workers took pride in what they did.

Those must have been the good ole days!

Alexandria’s SPARC plan questionnaire. Councilmen to mayor: I guess the dog ate it.

January 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Well, should I say it’s not surprising that 2 city councilmen did their homework as they were  asked to do and fill out a questionnaire about the SPARC plan while the others said the dog ate their home work.  Grade “A” to Chuck Fowler and Harry Silver….Passes to the two new councilmen, who were not in class at that time and “F” to the rest of the boys. They had three month’s to do their homework. But the dog ate it.

Hummm…Representing the people of their district…..Ohhh-K

If you do nothing else today, take the time to really listen to this.

We are moving farther and farther away from what was

 our founding fathers intentions.

It’s well worth the time to listen.

Central Louisiana Flooding There are photo records to use, I am sure….

January 28, 2009 · 3 Comments

Tuesday Jan. 27.

The city council  tonight is having hearings on the flood issues of the past. It occurred to me that satellite photographs of the area from the day before the storm  till about a week after the storm would give a lot of answers on how to prevent it happening again. I am very sure the Government would be more than glad to furnish the information…..  Watch the progression of flow off.. See where it is effective and where the flow off is  slow.   Address the solutions to the slow drainage first …then move to each additional problem spot…. The local TV station took a lot of flood footage at that time also. Of course that is too simplex for any government agency to grasp.  So I am sure a lot of money will be spent in vain. Then again who knows? I understand the city council was understanding but offered zilch!  I could refer you to my post in September 17 of last year right after the storm. But that ended up a fiasco.

The Greenbriar Mystery.

January 27, 2009 · Leave a Comment

sherlock_looks1Two month’s ago a man was shot and killed by a policeman at this rather shady motel, with a  very checkered past.

Very litle has been done or said in the past two month’s.

The officer is on paid leave.

There is finger pointing as to who was to do the investigation.

The media has not actively reported  on the case.

Seems to me that everyone has had sufficent time to get their statements  matched up.

What now?

Are there not a lot of blanks in this puzzle?

I have always been told that the longer a case drags on the better for the defendant.

I am pointing NO finger at anyone, but we need anwsers yesterday.

Blog War’s

January 25, 2009 · 2 Comments

caveman_types1There are a number of central Louisiana Blog’s that are read every day or at least every 0ther day by  folk’s in these here part’s.

All in all, they try to give their slant on the news of the day.   I dabble in this past time myself.  In the beginning I mentioned a  few name’s in my rambling’s.

But after writing a few blogs, I realized that given the limited readership and knowledge of most of  the day to day blog readers, names are not necessary.

Most of the news makers around here require only the mention  of  where it happened and what their actions  are.    That… enough is a billboard for their name.

As to the blogger’s themselves. Most of them are known personalities. truth be known, perhaps  I may be the unknown factor in the bunch.

To my knowledge my true identity is known to probably a  half dozen folks around the area.  That is the way I want it.

I will not call the other blogger’s out on any issues.

I may write on it with a different slant though.

Lately I have seen several of the more popular bloggers get into  a rather childish game of , I know you  and where you live and how you live.

My computer is bigger than your computer, etc. (Actually is a bit rougher  than that, but I will leave it understated.)

Do they do this on purpose to get  more readers into their corral?  In all probability, Yes. Then again maybe no…

I know all the angles of that type of  journalism.. Let’s just say , been there, done that.

What I have done in the past or what I may do today is not an issue.  We all just write to give our opinions on day to day life.

So lets behave like adults and treat each other with respect. I will treat you that way.  Try to do the same to your other colleagues.

There again I may be preaching to the brick wall.

Alexandria is running out of patience.

January 19, 2009 · 2 Comments

In watching the new city council on public access 4, Suddenlink,. I am beginning to get truly troubled to say the least.

It is my understanding that the city council is elected  to have the best interest of the city of Alexandria at heart, not just the section of the city they represent.

They should work together with the city as a whole as their primary interest. This is what they are elected to do.

Special interest should not enter into their agenda.

They should work with the mayor  to further the day to day workings of Alexandria.

It is more than obvious this is not what most of the councilmen  think they should do.

At the moment, because of some newly elected  people, it seems there is an alpha-dog issue as to who or whom is the most disruptive.

I have said before that the rights to the recorded meetings should be sold as a reality show to some nitwit network to bring in more revenue for the city budget.

I  still hold by that comment. (My previous post entitled “The Late Night Show.”) Friday July 25, 2008…

There is almost total disrespect for our elected Mayor, who to me.. is doing a balanced and commendable job.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are perhaps at the best 2 or perhaps 3 members of the city council who have a  grasp of the day to day workings of our complex city government.

The balance are as I have said before are totally clueless!

They are not interested in the city as a whole, just the section they  try so haplessly to pretend to represent.

In a lot of cases you could drag a person off the street who would have a better idea of what is going on in some of the so called meetings.

I know a lot of other people feel as I do.  They are just afraid to express their disgust.

Our elected Mayor is trying his best, but most of the time he is preaching to a brick wall.

I understand that most of the time he is talking over the heads of some of the council members.

But  because they have been elected by the citizens of Alexandria, perhaps they should bring a dictionary to the meetings and try to understand  him and what is going on.

This constant conflict and  for lack of a better word, bullshit, has got to stop.

Lawyers ..good & bad..smart and stupid…

January 19, 2009 · 1 Comment

The newspaper and even the Alexandria public access channel have publicised it.

The crass and disruptive behavior of a local lawyer.

Who to say the least was rude and disrespectful to the Mayor of our city.

The distasteful display speaks for itself. Would a member of any one of the more reputable firms in Alexandria lower themselves to that depth?

I think not.

I have many friends who are lawyers and also judges.

NOT ONE  of them would even think of stooping to that level in public.

If I or anyone else would have done such a ignorant act we would have been escorted out of the  council room..

With the Police Chief and one officer standing next to them , not three feet away, they fortunately were able to partially keep this person in check.

The lawyer is just wanting attention, but  is cluless of how to act in a public gathering…

Its a shame that this person can not  express themselves in a more intelligent way..

The City Council in itself is a circus, lets keep the clowns to a  minimum!

Great way to start the weekend.

Israel & Gaza, I am confused.

January 14, 2009 · 1 Comment

The main stream press has me confused.

Hamas is good because for the last few years they routinely fire rocket’s  into Israel, hide in schools, hospitals and attack from  any public gathering  or place they can.

They wear no uniforms, so they can not be singled out as the aggressor..

Israel is bad because they get tired of this constant attack on their country after they gave Gaza to the Palestine’s to keep this from happening in the first place.

They wear uniforms so they can be recognised as members of an army. They do such despicable things as call the homes that they are targeting before they attack them.

Have put up with constant harassment from Hamas and other group’s for years.  Have backed down from threats several times. Even captured and released the area they are having to go back in.

Hamas is good?

Israel  is bad?

My calculator is broken then, because it just will not add up.

And I see bloggers condem  the Jew’s.

Zionist plot?   Where, when and for God-sake’s why?   How un-educated do you want to prove yourselves?

Some of my best friends are Jewish.  They are kind and considerate people, who are no different than you or I.

They have a religion most people will not take the time to study or understand.   I understand the bias…

One of my primary rules has been always study an outlook before you condem it.  Talk to people, find out their thought’’s.

The local Rabbi is a thoughtful, kind  and understanding person who gives to this community far more than he even begins to receive.

I have valued their opinion above others on a lot of issues. ( and no not on any sterotypical things most baiters puke about.)

I see no dark conspiracy or plot anywhere.

Oh well, sometimes I do not seem to go with the confused flow, so dummy me!
